NEWS: Military Recapture Abadam, Kill Dozens Of Boko Haram Insurgents

Dozens of Boko Haram insurgents were reportedly killed early Saturday morning in the fight for Abadam, Borno State, between Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and the terrorists. Leadership recalls that town was captured last week despite the previously reached ceasefire agreement . At least 40 people were killed and many residents fled to the border communities in Niger Republic in fear for their lives.

INSURGENCY: FG Asks Court for Secret Trial of Ndume

The federal government has asked a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to conduct a secret trial for Senator Aliyu Ndume, who is standing trial for terrorism charges. Ndume, a senator from Borno State is standing trial before Justice Gabriel Kolawole for failing to inform law enforcement agencies of the activities of the outlawed Boko Haram sect.

3,000 applicants screened for Gombe mass wedding

INSURGENCY: Fear of Boko Haram factions threatens ceasefire

TOP hierarchy of the Nigerian military, Nigerian Tribune gathered on Sunday, is expressing worries as to the possibility of a faction of the Boko Haram sect playing the spoiler role in the ceasefire deal. This was as a result of series of attacks traced to members of the sect in Abadam and Dzur, Borno State communities, on Saturday and the attack on Shaffa, another town in the state, by the suspected members of the sect on Sunday, leaving about 19 people dead.

Nigeria's Inflation Drops To 8.3% In September – National Bureau Of Statistics

National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which measures inflation has dropped to 8.3 per cent in September from 8.5 per cent recorded in August 2014.

Another health care worker at the Texas Presbyterian Hospital has tested positive to Ebola, a few days after a nurse, Nina Pham, tested positive. The new case is also one of those who attended to late Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian who took Ebola to America.

JAIL BREAK: Over 12 prisoners escape as Inmates Riot at Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos Today

Yesterday,there was a riot and alleged jail break by prisoners at the famous Kirikiri Maximum Prison in Lagos.  The Sun Newspaper  is reporting the reason for the unrest as the following: “the inmates were fed up with what they described as highhandedness on the part of the new Deputy Controller at the Maximum Security Prison, DCP Kayode Odeyemi. They alleged that he stripped the inmates of all the privileges given to them by former controllers.
