2015 ELECTION: What 9ice, Funke Adesiyan Told Constituents
After weeks of speculations on different social media platforms suggesting that Abolore Akande, famously known as 9ice, will be contesting in next year’s election, it has now been confirmed that the Gongo Aso crooner is ready for a higher calling. 9ice will be looking to represent Ogbomoso Federal constituency 1 in the House of Representatives on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC).
The singer was said to have been meeting with the who-is-who in the APC, especially in his home town in the past few weeks. Those who are close to him disclosed to R days back that he may eventually pitch his tent with APC.
R reliably gathered that 9ice consluted widely with APC and PDP chieftains in Ogbomoso before he was said to have been ‘assured’ of a ticket on the platform of APC.
During the week, in company with his friends, 9ice touched down in Ogbomoso where he met with members of his constituency and addressed a large crowd that gathered at the popular Town hall, Oja Igbo.
Clad in a white traditional attire, he was seen waving his broom to the people as they beamed with enthusiasm, apparently waiting to hear what the singer has come to say. 9ice promsied that if elected, he would use his salary to execute developmental projects in the constituency. “I have to come to present myself to you formally and to let you know that I will be ready to represent you at the lower chamber of the National Assembly. If I am voted in, I will make sure I facilitate laudable developmental projects to this constituency through quality representation”.
From Ogbomoso to Ibadan, another actress who will be vying for an elective post in next year’s election is Funke Adesiyan. The actress, a native of Oyo State will be contesting for a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly on the platform of PDP. Funke, who came out last week to declare her intention to run disclosed that she was moved by the yearnings of her people and her god-fathers who believe she could use her popularity in the movie industry to her advantage. When speaking with the people of her constituency at a rally in Ibadan on Tuesday, the actress said she has come to give voice to the women fold and to empower the youth. “This election is not a do-or-die affair and I am confident that I will win the ticket at the primaries which comes up in few weeks. Many people have been saying that I am new in politics, but I have been actively involved for years. When the right time comes, we will see”.
