PDP Representatives get go ahead to sack Tambuwal



Members of the Houe of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been given the marching orders to get Honourable Aminu Tambuwal out of his seat as Speaker, following his defection from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The order was said to have been sanctioned, on Monday, by the Presidency and leadership of the PDP, who considered the defection as an affront on democracy and the party.

Sources at the National Assembly said that the Presidency had told the PDP caucus in the House that they had a duty to remove the Speaker from office by all lawful means, while assuring them of the support of the party.

A top member of the House said that a meeting had been scheduled with the national chairman of the party and the lawmakers to finetune the strategy for ousting the Speaker.

“We have been given a marching order to impeach the Speaker, because he is no longer part of us. We are meeting with our party this evening (yesterday) to discuss how to go about the assignment,” he said.

The source added that all members of the party in the House of Representatives had been summoned to attend a meeting with party leaders unfailingly today.

The source, however, said that two members of the House from the South West had been shortlisted as replacement for Tambuwal.

It added that the thinking was that Tambuwal’s exit would ensure that the South-West was reintegrated into the governmental structure in the country.

As it was, the zone had none of the top seven positions in Nigeria.
